73 pages [29 self-teaching + 44 self-quizzes with detailed answers]
Master double-entry bookkeeping/accounting in one short sitting —around 2 hours.
Ideal before you start any accounting course, for on-the-job training or to nail down a skill you may feel insecure about.
Section 1: How a business keeps track of its money. How bookkeeping measures every item and activity in dollars. The “chart of accounts” made easy. Self-quiz makes sure you really know it.
Section 2: Every transaction affects two or more accounts. When you buy a car your Asset—Car account goes up, but your Cash account goes down. When you buy an ad in the local paper, your Advertising Expense account goes up, but so does your Accounts Payable (bills that are payable later). Filled with examples. Double- quiz lets you practice as if you were on the job.
Section 3: Recording journal entries. Pick up the simple rules of double-entry bookkeeping. Which amounts go in which accounts and how to show this. Filled with examples. Double-quiz lets you practice until you know it cold.
Section 4: The general ledger accounts. Shows you what a ledger account looks like on a computer v. on paper. Explains how journal entries you learned go into the accounts. Now learn how to quickly find and retrieve financial information from the accounts—such as:
- your company’s cash balance
- your company’s sales for any month
- which bills your company has paid or not paid
And other financial information. Double-quiz lets you practice finding and retrieving financial information fast!
Section 5: The income statement and balance sheet. Snapshot of the financial statements and how they are compiled from the general ledger accounts.
Section 6: The accounting cycle. An overview of the accounting process from start to finish.

It is a good book for bookkeeping principles, explains step by step, easy to read & understand. I rate it as 5 star
The training manual was good, but far to short. The concept is delivered, but there is not enough material so that a student can work problems until it is second nature.
It was simple to master it in just one day
I have taken this course to learn double-entry and get started. It was the first course I took. I am not a bookkeeper yet, I am learning so this book was really helpful.
Very well written and informative.
Excellent book. I have been using it as a supplement to my textbooks.
Good guia to study

Well written, easy to understand and retain; examples & quizzes add an extra reinforcement to knowledge base.
Very informative. I look forward to my next course. I am employed with a small construction company so the course will be payroll. Thank You
This course was a very good refresher
Great course! Learned a lot. I love the multiple quizzes. They helped me with actually learning the material and not committing to memory.
Course was thorough and complete.
easy to understand and follow
Very clear and concise. Easy to understand. Great beginners book. Highly recommend. Great learning tool for beginning level bookkeepers and accounting students. Would like to see it expanded to cover more material.
I did find the Double-Entry Bookkeeping class very helpful. However, when I purchased this class I was under the impression based off the website and paper that I get each month that this class would allow me to receive a certificate of completion. That is something that does not come with this book. The only reason I was taking this course was to receive the certificate because my boss wants me to further my education in Bookkeeping.
Enjoyed the workbook. Explains concepts well. Simple, easy to work through. Good refresher.
excellent
This was very good for beginners. I would like to see an advanced version be available for those of us who have been in this profession for many years
I’ve learned quite a bit. The accountant I worked for before never explained the reasoning behind this. Glad I took the time to re review the book 🙂
For those new to, or interested in, double-entry bookkeeping this course should be considered an absolute must! This course is concise, easy to understa, but most importantly lays the foundation for, and the importance of, understanding a double-entry accounting/bookkeeping system. Even for long-time bookkeepers, with only on-the job training skills, this course is a nice review and offers personal validation for skills previously (and properly or not) learned throughout the years. If you easily understand this course, pass all quizzes with ease, then you’re ready to move to the next level in confidence.
Excellent study book for those new to the accounting field.
Very helpful.
Way too basic. It could have more examples and illustrations.
Great way of simplifying the concept and included tons of practice.
